Lord Huron MerchBackpackWith a sold-out show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre under their belt, Lord Huron are ready to open the next chapter of their journey. This time the group will be accompanied by the Los Angeles-based indie band Bully, whose soaring melodies and graceful punk attitude will make for an unforgettable night. Ben Schneider’s project emerged from the indie folk trend of the early 2010s, but unlike Mumford & Sons with their banjos or The Lumineers with their “Hey’s and Ho’s”, Lord Huron quickly established itself as something a little more mysterious and otherworldly. Caribbean drums, twangy mandolins and Schneider’s Jim James-esque vocals made for a sound that refused to fit in any one genre or time period. The band’s fourth album, Long Lost, builds on this sense of ethereal adventure. It’s the band’s best record yet, and one that finds frontman Schneider pulling out all the stops. Long Lost’s songs are richly adorned, from orchestral arrangements to echoing announcers that feel like they were pulled from the soundtrack of some forgotten cinematic excursion. The record’s first single, “Mine Forever”, sets the mood, combining Beach Boys with Spaghetti Westerns via an infectious rhythm and soaring violins. The resulting track is both uplifting and wistful, like the kind of dream you don’t want to end. Lord Huron Backpack |
